Romancing the Coast

This group meets at 2:00 on the second Tuesday of every month. They have closed their membership, but they are taking names of book lovers so that a second group can be started. The books are generally fiction and are available in paperback for around $15. Members of the group are expected to read the book and take part in the discussion. The book titles are chosen by group consensus and the members take turns hosting the event.

Group meets the third Thursday of every month, September to June. Meetings start at 7 p.m. in members' homes. Members choose both fiction and non-fiction, and are expected to read the selections and come prepared for discussion. For more information wallplus@aol.com

GREAT DECISIONS |
Our Great Decisions group has completed our coursefor this year, leaving many of us anxious to keep upwith World Affairs — and missing our Thursday discussions! As stated by the Foreign Policy Association "For over50 years, Great Decisions has given an inspiring exampleof the role citizens can play in discovering, discussing and deciding how some of the world's greatest challenges can be met." We, in our AAUW group have had 8 stimulating Thursday afternoons. Our topics included: Iraq; the EU; Engaging the Enemy; Russia; Defense and Security; Latin America; China; and Philanthropy. We now look forward to the 2009 Great Decisionsgroup, with new topics to help AAUW members understand some of the challenges affecting our lives. I will be setting up our 2009 group in November. Members meet five times a year. A planning meeting is held
in June to decide themes of dinners for the following year. Four dinners
are planned. All members are invited to the planning meeting and can sign
up for the coming year. Those joining later can sign up for the substitute
